On 3 March 2026, a team of volunteers from the Heart of Unity and Tolerance Foundation (The HUT Foundation) visited Amazing Start Academy at Kurudu Barracks, Abuja, engaging pupils aged 5–12 in a lively, interactive session centred on kindness, unity, and a shared sense of nationhood.
Rather than a conventional talk, the session was designed to be child-friendly and participatory, using simple storytelling, visual character illustrations, and call-and-response activities to communicate key values. Through a short role-play scenario, pupils explored how their actions can affect how people feel, reinforcing the importance of kindness in everyday interactions.
The team also led a “Kind or Unkind” activity, where pupils enthusiastically identified positive and negative behaviours, as well as a brief diversity segment highlighting Nigeria’s rich mix of cultures, languages, and backgrounds. Using relatable examples, the pupils were encouraged to see differences not as barriers, but as part of what makes the country unique and beautiful.
To further engage the pupils, a fast-paced quiz on Nigerian facts was conducted, with small gifts presented to participants who answered correctly.
The session concluded with a short kindness pledge, as pupils collectively affirmed their commitment to treating others with respect, helping those in need, and embracing the spirit of unity as proud Nigerians.
